Protect Yourself by Detaching.

The Detachment Theory teaches us how to emotionally distance ourselves from situations that trigger us. By allowing ourselves to observe what's happening without internalizing it, we become free.

As a human race, we are designed to need others in our lives to survive and be connected. However, when the ones we need the most do not protect us, and instead consistently hurt us, we need to take our power back.

By using the Detachment Theory, we distance ourselves enough to see the situation as outside of ourselves. We stop owning it. We protect ourselves emotionally. We refuse to take other people's bad behavior personally. We no longer feel that it is our responsibility to correct (including coming back with the "perfect response”).

We may have been conditioned to see ourselves as weak for not coming in for the kill, but choosing ourselves and our inner peace is our power.

When we are not afraid to reclaim our Spiritual Sovereignty, we are reminded that we are here to live out our divine purpose, always loving and respecting ourselves. We can, and many times need to, create healthy distance between ourselves and others while still being able to care about them.

Give the video a listen, and see if this helps you. And please pass it on if you think someone you know, and care about, needs to see this. Sending you love, healing and the path to authenticity.

Figuring Ourselves Out.

You may get many different opinions from experts. They’ll tell you everything from when to get up, when to go to sleep, what to eat, what kind of cosmetics to use, and the best exercise to take part in. And then you will listen to another expert, and they will tell you the complete opposite.

Many years ago, my father told me that while playing golf with a renowned physician, he learned that many times it is very difficult for doctors to be absolutely certain of what is wrong with a patient. This is because two people can have the same exact symptoms, and yet for very different reasons.

So what do you do? Listen to your own cycles. As human beings, we are very similar, yet we are all designed to be unique. When we use our intuition and document in order to recognize patterns, we become aware.

In my video, I share what I do to get a big picture sense of what is and isn’t working for me. I document everything to give me insight. This allows me to live in a way that gives me energy aligned with who I really am. Conversely, it gives me awareness if my energy is being consistently drained by certain people, places and activities. If you choose to do this, you will see things that may surprise you. This is partly because we are conditioned at a very young age by our upbringing, environment, and the will of others.

You will see if you are at your best when you go to sleep late and take your time getting on with your day, or winding down early and waking up with the sun. How you feel after you participate in team sport, or with individual exercise. Are you invigorated by art or music? Do you get a jolt from crime stories? Most importantly, what is your emotional state after spending time with specific people?

This awareness is to recognize, honor and live the life most aligned with you to be at your best.

This process is extremely helpful to learn your own rhythms, and to also give others the space they need to recognize and live by theirs.

If you haven’t already, please watch the video on YouTube, and like, comment and SUBSCRIBE 🙏🏻. Thank you! 😊

Holding Grudges, Hurting Ourselves.

We’ve all been there…betrayed, disappointed and at times, shocked by someone else’s behavior.

We want to nurse our wounds, and NEVER FORGET, but the cost to us is pretty significant. As human spiritual beings, living in the physical world, the longer we hold the hateful energy in our heart, we are blocked. When we hold so much resentment, there is less room in our hearts for love, light and growth.

Not hating on someone and holding grudges is way different than setting boundaries, which I believe in. I think it is intelligent and necessary to do so. We have to learn from others what they will give us, and be smart in protecting ourselves.

But when we continually hate on someone, be it a co-worker, an ex or a neighbor, we are hating on ourselves.

Why?

It creates walls that can’t be taken down. A cold heart wants a fight, and it takes a lot of energy to keep the promise to ourselves “to remember.”

Once we let go, and let live, we become connected. Humans are flawed. We know that. But when we project our hate onto others for their flaws, can we see our own? Can we grow, re-route and become ascended? There is also good karma in finding the grace that we would like to be given for our flaws.

Resolving our past, forgiving others for not being perfect, and looking inside of our own heart will present space and a pathway for others to see our goodness.

Judgement is a trap. It blocks us and blessings from coming to us.

Acceptance creates expansion, giving others a pathway to meet us, see us, and want a connection with us.

I hope this blog and video help you, be it the person holding the grudge, and being begrudged.

The Life Lessons I Learned from Watching "Becoming Led Zeppelin"

Led Zeppelin was described by Rolling Stone Magazine as “unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock history.”

I recently saw the movie “Becoming Led Zeppelin.” Watching documentaries and biographies is one of my passions, because I believe that we all have a life story to share. Through the mundane of everyone’s story, I believe there are always meaningful moments, and gold nuggets to glean.

I got a few really great ones from the movie, which I would like to share. I hope you can incorporate these golden nuggets into your life if need be, and that they inspire you, give you faith, and keep you strong.

Having Courage To Pursue Your Calling
Jimmy Page was a busy session musician. Although he didn’t suffer for work, he knew there were something else out there that was more aligned to who he really was. In his own words he “wanted to do something bigger to share with the world.”

He had the security that most musicians would give anything for, yet he took the chance by putting himself out there and starting something new. He gave himself to what was his calling. He took the chance, although he didn’t know what obstacles he would be facing. He pursued his dream, wanting to give the world something new. He showed courage, faith and selflessness, which I believe the universe rewarded him for.

Tuning Out the Critical Noise

People criticized them, and some tried to discourage them, and yet they persevered. The noise will be there for all of us, and yet we have to be able to shut out the noise. Other people may not understand what we are doing. They might be jealous. Perhaps, they just don’t get it. Not everyone is going to be on board with what we are doing. Regardless, it is up to us to do ahead with our vision. This takes a lot of de-conditioning, as many of us are taught to do what others want and need from us. We have an agreement that order for us to feel wanted, accepted and safe, we go along even when we know it is not the right direction for us. Listening to our inner selves and the spirit within, we will get the guidance we need to live a rewarding and meaning life.

Attracting “Our” People
When Led Zeppelin first appeared on the scene, even some audience members didn’t understand what they were doing. The lesson here is that we are not going to appeal to everyone. We have to find our tribe. We can’t make everyone happy, including our friends and family. If we continue on our path, ultimately, we will attract people who appreciate the work we are doing.

Be a Trailblazer
Do something that no one else is doing. If it’s part of your vision, then fight to maintain your vision. Take a risk by not just going along with what everyone else is expecting. This one action is showing faith in the universe. When we put our energy into the universe, the universe will help us. Listen to the spirit, and then work in cooperation with all that is. Remind yourself “This is what I am here to do.” And do it.

Loyalty, Honesty and Respect from Our Tribe
Peter Grant was their manager. He was a big guy with a big personality. And he was as loyal as they come. By aligning themselves with Peter Grant, the band got the right person on their side. “Yes” men can make us feel great as they are agreeing with us, and terrible when they watch us go down. Loyalty, respect and truth are priceless to have in our inner circle. We need people to love us, support us and help us grow. They should want us to succeed.

Organize Your Time.

Our time is not like the stock market, which can bounce back after losses. Once we lose our time, we don’t get it back.

Our time is relative to our energy. Without one, we can’t have the other. That is why it’s important to be organized, and have the energy to live our lives doing what we love.

In this vlog, I share the following tips to get started 😊

Cushion your time.

Things almost always take longer than we think. If you can imagine meeting someone for lunch (and your GPS tells you that you are a half hour away) you may give yourself 30 minutes to get there. What you may not consider is how long it takes you to get out of the house, get into your car, set your GPS, and get on the road. That can easily take 5-10 minutes. This means you are already behind before you even begin. And this isn’t taking into consideration that many times we need to run back in the house for something we forgot, or we hit unforeseen traffic, or have a hard time finding parking.

And then add in an unexpected text or an incoming phone call, and many of us feel we need to respond. Refraining from immediately responding to something (which is not an emergency) will also help you set boundaries.

Schedule and block out everything in your calendar.

Not only will this give us a very clear idea of what we are doing, and allow us to prepare for activities ahead, it also acts as a reality check.

Don’t double book, and also don’t over book. We need to balance our lives so we can play, work, socialize, love, and have good quality alone time, in order to be present, calm and aligned.

Color code your calendar.

This creates both an awareness of what you are doing, and also how often you are doing it. Do you realize how much time you spend working, playing, socializing, scrolling?

What can you cut back on? What can you add? And what can you delete?

Prioritize time for what, and who, you love.

Sometimes we inadvertently forget to carve out time for those we love the most. Why? Because we take our time, and the people we hold dearest, for granted. Creating a calendar also means building in time for the people we love the most. Once we prioritize what is truly important to us, we can build out from there. This helps us spend our time on what we love the most.

Curtail time suckers.

Many of us need to decompress and watch TV or scroll, but these things can take up more time than we think. Set a timer, and then enjoy decompressing guilt free.

In summary.

When we have structure, we have framework. Planning and organizing our time helps us create the boundaries that we need. Things can be modified as we change and grow. It is about loving our lives, feeling calm, and being more in control. Don't allow yourself to be overwhelmed - time slips by and you can't get it back!

When You Are Having Doubts, Trust Yourself.

We all have doubts about which path to take. In our lives it seems there are more paths than ever. With so many choices, we can easily get overwhelmed.

So which path do you take?

Start by trusting your intuition, think of it as your own personal GPS. Trusting our intuition, and paying attention to our body intelligence will guide us in the right direction. We all know that feeling of something looking good, smelling good, feeling good, and sounding good. But our stomach clenches, we have a hard time catching our breath, and our thoughts race when we think of moving forward. We tell ourselves not to listen to those warnings because we think there is a reward. Or we get talked into it. But we know the truth. Our body intelligence, our intuition, and our spirit guides, are all pointing us in another direction, screaming “No, go that way!”

The way to learn to listen to your intuition (after perhaps decades of ignoring it), is to develop a strong relationship with yourself, so you can’t do anything but hear it. Even if you try, you love yourself too much, you can’t possibly lie to yourself.

After you have learned to listen to, and trust, your intuition, make a commitment to never, ever compare yourself to others. We don’t know the sacrifices they’ve made to have what they have. These are perhaps not sacrifices you could, or would, choose to make. Everything lines up when we trust our process, and everything looks rosier when it is far away.

In conclusion, trusting our intuition, trusting ourselves, and trusting we have our own unique path, is the beginning. Reviewing our story we have lived, and learning from our, will tell us more. And remember, if things don’t work, we can always pivot. Your own unique GPS knows you, and it also knows how to re-route you when necessary.

Listening to Those Little Whispers.

When we receive whispers, either from our gut or the signs around us, taking a pause and listening can change the trajectory of our lives in a really positive way.

When we live only in our heads, it can easily cause overwhelm and exhaustion. It holds us back from living fully and authentically. When we over-rationalize our experiences, and pause for too long, it can make it nearly impossible to pick up the momentum to move forward.

Our intuition, and the signs we pick up all around us, are our guiding light.

So the next time something pops in your head that seems curious, go for it. If you feel the urge to reach out to someone you haven't spoken to, let them know you are thinking about them. This may be a pivotal time in your relationship.

If you overhear a conversation, or a song with lyrics that eerily seem to parallel what is happening in your life, listen. Our intuition is our guiding light, and our spirit guides are here to offer us help and guidance.

Listening, trusting, and responding can create life altering positive consequences, and take you to new and aligned paths.

Being Alone to Get Real So We Can Release Emotional Pain

Being alone can feel lonely, but it can also give us an opportunity. When we are alone, we can hear our own thoughts more clearly, and get real about what is going on in our head, our heart and our spirit.

Journaling helps this process because it can give us objectivity. Seeing our words on paper, hearing our voice on voice memo, getting a new perspective by seeing our lives in art form, can give us clarity.

From my perspective, getting real is what it is all about. The comforts we build to create a wall between us and our spirit can cause a lot of heartache and disconnect.

Sending you love, healing and the path to authenticity. xoxo

Are You Busy Being Busy?

There are many reasons why we may be busy all of the time. Busy is much different than being productive.

Are we intentionally “busy” in order to feel or prove something, or distract ourselves from something?

Is it “I am busy, therefore I am worthy?” Remember, you are already worthy. You don’t need to prove your worth to anybody. The truth is that people are living their own lives, and thinking about their own path and responsibilities. Their focus is not on us. Although they may be interested, they don’t care to make what we are doing top of mind. Also, many times people sense when we are putting on a show of being busy, as an attempt to prove our worthiness.

If we are using being busy as a distraction to not have to feel something, then we need to get real about what is going on within us. We have to work through our pain, our emotions, and our discomfort. We can’t make it through to the other side without getting hurt a bit. Once we work through our pain, we can release what is bearing down on us. The painful moments and discomfort are part of the resolution. We can’t keep shoving down our feelings as they’ll inevitably keep coming up for us.

  • Grab a journal.
  • Sit with your thoughts.
  • Allow things to come up, without the knee jerk reaction of pushing things down.
  • Come to terms with the notion that things will hurt, embarrass or cause anger, and accept that it’s okay.
  • Allow them to surface and show themselves.
  • Then decide what can you edit out of your schedule.
  • Once you have your list, keep referring back to it as a reminder.
  • Make it a daily practice to recover.

And remember, you got this.

How to Live in Your Sovereignty.

Making decisions based on your own values, beliefs, and desires, allows us to take responsibility for our lives.

This video speaks to standing in our own power and appreciating our worthiness, giving us a strong sense of self. I also give some practical ideas on how to move forward and get unstuck.

When we feel hopeless (Guidance from a Tarot Card Reading)

A friend of mine was feeling down and asked me to read her tarot cards. She felt she just couldn’t get a break. After I did the reading, I thought, “This would be a good video for anyone going through the same thing.” So with her permission, this reading is for you:

Get out of your mind.
Sword energy in the tarot is analytical thinking, strategy and intelligence. There is a time and place for everything, including when this is beneficial and when it is not. Tapping into your emotional self and intuition can help you when you have problems that are not black and white. Ask your heart what your next step should be. Let your body intelligence give you advice by asking the question, and then see how you physically feel.

Sorrow

Deal with your past sorrow. We need to work though our loss, neglect, and abuse. I think of it as staring the devil in the eye, so not to feel intimidated, and allow things to come to the forefront. This release will lift up our energy.

Wants vs. Responsibilities

There are things that we want, and also things we need to do. Reconcile the two, and find the joy in your life. What makes you tick? Find the time, the space, and the guilt free attitude, and lean into happiness.

Positive people
Spend more time with people that have both the positive outlook and emotional maturity. It will bring out your own intuition. Take a look at the people around you who might be creating some negative energy. They could be putting bad stuff in your head. Even if you are not ready to release these relationships entirely, you can find balance by receiving energy from positive and loving people.

Karma
There’s karma in life. We come here to play out a story. Karma is real, but we can still navigate our story to find fulfillment (see my videos on manifestation for some ideas).

Don’t bang your head against the wall
Pay attention to the energy and the flow in your life and go with it. Don’t resist it, and stop banging your head on walls that don’t budge.

Take help that’s offered
When you’re feeling down, recognize help that’s offered to you and accept it. The next time someone needs you, you can return the favor.

Be still
Lastly, take time to work things out in your own quiet time. Figure out what time of day works best for you and schedule it, and then journal (see my video on journaling here). Tune in to what your body is telling you. Ask your spirit guides for help, and see what their answer is.

Live in your sovereignty

Strive and live in your sovereignty. What life gives you, you can manage. I hope these tips and the other videos I offer help you on your way.

How NOT Sweeping Things Under the Rug Can Save a Relationship.

Happy Holidays?

It’s time to be with people who we have tense relationships with, and relationships we might not be able to avoid. There could be unspoken anger and frustration, and we can’t find the words to express what we want to say.

So, what do many of us do? We lash out in frustration after repressing our anger for too long. It makes us feel like we've won the battle, but ultimately, we've lost the war. The feel good release leads to long term pain for the other person, which may not be able to be repaired. There are many ways to handle this, but most importantly, do not ask them to “just move on.” Instead, handle it with sensitivity and grace, and watch them open up to a true reconciliation. It takes trust that needs to be earned.

To demonstrate this, I'll share a story I heard many years ago that had a huge impact on me:

A young man had a problem with his temper. Every time someone would frustrate or disappoint him, or make him feel “less then,” he would lash out. He hurt many people, and many relationships were damaged beyond repair. He felt powerful because people were intimidated and he was rarely challenged.
An elder who saw this time and time again suggested to him, “For every time you want to say something to someone to hurt them, and every time you want to lash out at someone to cut them, I want you to take a nail and bang it into the fence across the street instead, in order to release your anger.” The young man saw a beautiful freshly painted fence across the street and agreed to do so.

Weeks later, the young man came back to the elder and said “I feel great. It was such a release to get rid of my negative feelings.” The elder said to him, “Great. Now I want you to take out all the nails from the fence.” After the young man agreed, the elder said “Now I want you to look at the fence.” The young man looked at the fence and saw that it was ruined beyond repair. Then the elder said, “That is what you do to relationships. Every time you feel the need to lash out and be aggressive, passive aggressive, or hostile to another person, the damage is significant and may not be able to be repaired.”

If you are the “Fixer,” WATCH THIS VIDEO

This video and blog speak to the potential pitfalls of being a fixer (as well as the person being “fixed”), and what we can do to protect ourselves.

With all of our good intentions, we can ultimately be resented for helping.

When someone opens up about their personal life and their current difficulties, they can feel VULNERABLE. As the person in need, we want the wisdom and objectivity from the people around us, but in these circumstances we are showing open wounds.

As the fixer, we need to show a lot of sensitivity. When we are offering our love and support, the current inequality and imbalance can result in the person receiving the help feeling “less then.” Treading lightly, and watching for cues on how to approach the other person, will help them not feel “smaller.”

Refuse to be used.
We love being needed, and we also love sharing our experiences in order to help others. But what about when we only hear from someone when they need something? That’s when we start feeling the resentment.

This is when we need to set boundaries. As a fixer, we are conditioned to give endlessly. This is when it is important to take care of ourselves, or we may become exhausted and overburdened. Making sure there is a healthy balance in the relationship is best for everyone. Make a commitment to yourself that you will not be used.

Resist the urge to micromanage.
When we have the answer and can see things clearly, we can jump right in. This is because we are objective and truly want to help. Difficult to resist the urge to fix quickly. Instead, we should be mindful that people need to learn their own lessons in their own time. Share your insights, but then allow space for the other person to figure things out on their own. Challenges are a huge part of growth, and we can’t always be running other people’s lives.

Accept resistance.

There are times when the other person simply does not want our help. And for true fixers, that can be devastating. We want to protect and not see them hurt themselves, but we need to allow them to live their lives. If there is resistance, understand their need for independence and autonomy, and move on. When they are ready, they will come to us and we will know the time is right to help them.

Wait to be asked.

We see things, we want to fix things because we want the world to be a happier place. This can feel intrusive to the other person. Support is a two way street, giving and receiving. Life is complex and we are here to help one another. But everyone has different ways of managing life, and it’s best to respect that - for them and for you. Give them the space they need, but we also need to protect ourselves.

Astrology and Days of the Week. Mood, Actions and Colors to Wear to Be Best Aligned.

In astrology, different planets rule different days of the week. These same planets rule various astrological signs. The following is a breakdown of the mood, actions and colors to wear for the day in order to be best aligned.

Monday

Monday is named after, and represents, the moon. In astrology, the moon also governs Cancer. This makes Monday a perfect day to reflect, emotionally connect and be observant and mindful. Wear colors that are light and soft, such as white, silver, light grey, soft lavender, light blue, pale green. Wearing all cool, light colors gives off a really mellow, chill vibe - something the moon is known for. This also reflects some Cancerians, when they are in their zen place.

Tuesday
Tuesday corresponds to Mars (and Aries), the planet of action. This symbolizes taking action, being bold, and getting things done. Wearing red represents the fire that Mars and Aries hold. Red has lots of range - crimson, blood red, scarlet, burgundy, coral, maroon, candy apple red, garnet, rust, fire engine red, copper. For an interesting combination, try wine and a deep red and see how complimentary it looks.

Wednesday
Wednesday is governed by Mercury (Virgo and Gemini’s planet). Both signs use their mind, and are very strategic and resourceful. This is the day to develop strategy and really use your intellect. Blue, green and brown are the colors for Wednesday.

Thursday
Thursday corresponds to the planet Jupiter (the sign of Sagittarius). Sagittarius is spontaneous and likes adventure. This is the day to do something adventurous, so do or plan the experience you have been wanting to have. The color for the day is yellow, a color that stimulates us. It creates an energetic, “I want an adventure” mood. Wear it in all its forms, including mustard, lemon, amber, cream, gold, apricot and saffron.

Friday
Friday’s ruler is Venus, the planet of love, which governs both Taurus and Libra. Today is the day to connect with other people and tell them what they mean to you. It is also the day for romance. Wearing pink is nurturing while green is healing. Pink has its many shades, including fuchsia, rose, bubblegum and champagne. Green can be sea green, turquoise, forest, sage or army, to name a few. One of my favorite combinations is pink and green. Keeping things balanced, calm, and grounded (like our Libra and Taurean friends, who call Venus their planet), is the name of the game.

Saturday
Saturday corresponds to Saturn and Capricorn. This is the day of work, organization, productivity and deep contemplation, which matches Capricorns’ nature. The color for this day is black, dark blue, dark cherry, dark green, and dark brown. These colors are all serious and dense, but dependable, honest and earthy.

Sunday
Sunday represents the Sun, and the Sun rules Leo. Leos typically like to have fun and gets lots of attention. This is your day to be playful, get attention you have been shying away from, and let other people see your many talents. Sunday is our day to wear orange in all its forms, be it peach, coral, rust, salmon, tangerine, apricot, amber, saffron, pumpkin and dark orange. Orange can be flamboyant, so put it all out there and enjoy this day of fire and fun.

Do It For You.

When you think of your life, the most important person in it is you.

This is not meant to be selfish. We make ourselves whole in order to be there for others in an  authentic way, without it being a negotiation.

As many of us know through experience, one of the biggest misconceptions is if we live our lives to please other people, we will get our needs met in return.

If we redirect, and focus on meeting our own needs, vision and happiness,
we can truly be there for other people, because we will feel whole.

Focusing on who we are is fundamental to live an authentic, spiritual life, as we then allow ourselves to grow and keep growing.

Healthy individuals contribute to the health of the whole.

Moving On to Uncharted Territory.

Leaving our current circumstances can be difficult, but sometimes where we are is no longer serving us, and it is worse staying. Being fearless and exploring what is on the other side can help us grow emotionally and spiritually.

Organizing Our Thoughts to Make Better Decisions.

At times, we all get overwhelmed when we need to make decisions. Depending on the circumstances, the process can be difficult and daunting.

Breaking down our options, categorizing and prioritizing, making small changes, and not feeling that things are un-fixable are all ways to move forward. Trusting our intuition by tuning into our body intelligence will help us get real and keep us on our path.

Writing things down.

It's amazing how putting things on paper gives us a clearer perspective and helps us step away from the chatter in our minds.

Making a Pros and Cons list.

I find getting two lists together, side by side helps me get a better assessment of what is going on. Because not everything has the same weight, I rate each bullet from 1-5. This not only helps keep things in perspective, it also frees me up to write down even the most trivial things, knowing I will only rate it a 1 or a 2.

Journaling.

This is one of my favorite past times. When I audio journal into my phone and play it back to hear myself, it gives me objective insight. Writing down the worst case scenario helps because I realize most everything is fix-able. If it's not a risk I am completely comfortable with, I will take baby steps before I fully commit.

Tuning into your body intelligence.

Sit quietly, with no distractions, and ask the question you want the answer to. Really tune into the body so it can give you the instinctive answer you are looking for.
